Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago of Niger State has reiterated his administration’s dedication to the welfare and security of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state, describing them as crucial partners in the state’s development agenda. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members held on August 1 at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area, the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Ibrahim Yahaya Gulbinboka, assured the over 1,400 corps members present that the state remains one of the most peaceful in the country and is committed to ensuring their safety and comfort throughout their service year. He urged the corps members to embrace the opportunities in the state, particularly in agriculture, as part of their contribution to national development, while also encouraging them to fully participate in the skills acquisition programmes offered during orientation. The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Akinyemi Nafiu, represented by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Martina Shuaibu Ibrahim, commended the state government’s support and advised corps members to be disciplined, security-conscious, and law-abiding throughout their stay. She warned against social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, and misinformation, emphasizing the importance of integrity and vigilance. The oath of allegiance was administered by the Chief Judge of Niger State, represented by Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman. Governor Bago’s renewed assurances build on earlier commitments, including financial incentives, improved camp infrastructure, and employment opportunities for outstanding corps members, reflecting his administration’s broader effort to harness youth potential for state and national growth.
