Chelsea Star Tosin Adarabioyo Receives African Illustrious Award for Historic FIFA Club World Cup Feat

Chelsea defender, Tosin Adarabioyo has been honoured with the African Illustrious Award by My Media Africa, in recognition of his historic milestone as the first Nigerian to win the revamped FIFA Club World Cup with the London club.

‎The award, conferred at the My Media Africa headquarters in Lekki, celebrates Africans who make remarkable contributions across various fields including sports, leadership, innovation, technology, and the arts. My Media Africa, a pan-African media company, emphasised that Adarabioyo’s recognition highlights what is achievable when talent, opportunity, and discipline align.

‎In a statement issued on Thursday, the organisers described the award as “a symbol of what is possible when African excellence meets global opportunity,” acknowledging the player’s contribution to Chelsea’s triumph on the world stage.

‎Adarabioyo, visibly proud as he received the award in person, described the honour as more than just a personal accolade.

‎“This award represents a celebration of heritage, excellence, and the global impact of Africans in sport,” he said. “I’m grateful to be part of football history and will continue to strive to do more to earn honours like this.”

‎The former Manchester City defender’s achievement not only places him in football’s elite circle but also marks a moment of pride for Nigeria and the African continent, as he continues to break new ground in international football.
