Airtel Reaps $273 Million in 3 Months

Airtel Africa has posted a strong financial performance for the first quarter of the 2025/2026 fiscal year, recording a pre-tax profit of $273 million for the three-month period ending June 30, 2025.

This marks a staggering 269% increase compared to the same quarter last year.

The Q1 earnings represent 41% of the group’s total pre-tax profit for the full financial year ended March 31, 2025, underscoring a strong start to the current financial cycle.

Profit after tax also recorded a remarkable rise, climbing 408% year-on-year to $156 million—accounting for 48% of the group’s post-tax earnings from the prior full year.

Total revenue for the quarter stood at $1.415 billion, reflecting a 24.9% growth in constant currency terms and a 22.4% rise in reported currency. The company attributed the improved revenue outlook to easing currency headwinds, which have been stabilising over the past three quarters.

According to the financial report, revenue growth was bolstered by recent tariff adjustments in Nigeria and solid momentum across Francophone Africa.

These gains highlight the success of Airtel Africa’s execution strategy focused on customer satisfaction and digital innovation.

Commenting on the results, Airtel Africa’s Chief Executive Officer, Sunil Taldar, said:

“We are very pleased with the strong growth in our operating and financial performance in the first quarter. The scale of this growth reflects sustained demand for our services and the strength of our business model to meet these demands.
Operationally, the acceleration in customer base growth to 9%, and 17.4% growth in our data customers to 75.6 million, reflects strong on-ground execution with a relentless focus on digitisation and simplifying the customer experience.”
Airtel Africa continues to expand its footprint across 14 African markets, delivering voice, data, and mobile money services. The company’s robust Q1 performance sets a positive tone for the remainder of the 2025/2026 fiscal year, as it leverages digital transformation and customer-centric strategies to drive sustainable growth.
