Tinubu’s Reforms Soon to Engender Expatriates Return to Nigeria

Youth Minister Ayodele Olawande asserts that President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing reforms will soon render Nigeria appealing enough for expatriates to consider returning. Olawande shared these insights with journalists during the coronation anniversary of Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, the Deji of Akure, over the weekend.
He emphasized that the federal government is taking intentional measures to re-engage young Nigerians with governance and restore faith in the nation’s future. “Everything the president is undertaking now is for the benefit of the future. I assure you, in the near future, Nigeria will be the preferred choice for residence over foreign lands, as the country is achieving stabilization,” the minister stated.
Olawande noted that Nigerian youth have long felt marginalized from leadership structures, but efforts are underway to bridge this divide through policy interventions and youth-centric initiatives. “Young people have been unable to perceive or engage with the government.
However, we are now assembling all necessary structures—skills, education, partnerships—to reintegrate them,” he explained.
He further elaborated that the federal government is striving towards a model that enhances productivity and employability, asserting that every Nigerian should possess at least two skills to effectively navigate the dynamic economy.
“We are developing a system where each Nigerian should acquire two skills, ensuring employability or the ability to employ others, regardless of their educational status,” he remarked.
Additionally, the minister highlighted his recent diplomatic mission to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he engaged in discussions on youth development and international collaboration.
He described the visit as historic and indicative of the increasing global confidence in Nigeria’s current youth policy trajectory.
During the coronation ceremony, the Deji of Akure bestowed upon Olawande a youth leadership service award, acknowledging his significant contributions to youth empowerment and national advancement.
