Olayinka Berates Adeyanju over Adverse Position on Wike

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has launched a scathing attack on activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju over comments made regarding his principal.

In a social media post on Saturday, Olayinka accused Adeyanju of attempting to hijack the ongoing opposition coalition movement for personal gain, likening it to what he alleged was Adeyanju’s misappropriation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) social media campaign funds during the 2015 elections.

The online exchange followed a fiery interview by Minister Wike, which reignited tensions between him and his long-time political rival and former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

The interview has stirred debate within the newly formed opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which both political heavyweights have been indirectly linked to.

Reacting to the interview, Adeyanju took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, writing:
“Coalition people should leave Wike and his dead PDP for me. Amaechi is too big to respond to Wike. Please, leave him for me.

They should face other important and relevant issues.”

In response, Olayinka lashed out, calling Adeyanju a “baseless lawyer” and alleging a history of personal misconduct and financial impropriety.

“One online baseless lawyer, who impregnated a lady that he met in Keffi, Nasarawa State, who gave birth to a boy and he abandoned both mother and son, will also be talking about coalition,” Olayinka wrote on X.

He further alleged, “He wan chop coalition money just like he chop PDP social media campaign money in 2015.”

Olayinka’s tirade included a reference to the late activist Ariyo Atoye, stating:
“May the soul of Ariyo Atoye rest in peace. A true friend who couldn’t watch the mother and child of his friend suffer.”

The controversy comes amid rising tensions within Nigeria’s opposition ranks following the unveiling of the ADC as a possible unifying platform ahead of the 2027 general elections. While some political actors have expressed optimism about the coalition, others like Wike have dismissed its relevance, creating fresh rifts among opposition figures.
