Wike Clarifies Issues on Land Allocation Allegations

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has categorically denied allegations that he allocated over 2,000 hectares of land in Abuja’s upscale districts of Maitama and Asokoro to one of his sons.
The denial was made by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media.
According to Olayinka, the claims are baseless and part of a deliberate campaign to malign Wike’s reputation.
He questioned the logic behind the story, pointing out that the alleged land allocation is implausible given the limited land availability in the mentioned areas.
Olayinka clarified that JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited, a company allegedly linked to Wike’s family, was allocated land in Bwari Area Council for agricultural purposes, not in Maitama or Asokoro.
He emphasized that the company’s land allocation was legitimate and in line with the FCT’s agricultural development goals.
The minister’s aide described the publication as “malicious falsehood” and urged the public to disregard the report.
He reiterated that Wike and his family have the right to own land in the FCT, provided they meet the necessary conditions.
