Sultan Declares May 28 as the First Day of Zulhijja 1446 AH
The Sultan has officially declared May 28, 2025, as the first day of Zulhijja 1446 AH. This marks the beginning of the 12th and final month in the Islamic lunar calendar, a period deeply revered for its spiritual importance and key religious observances.
Zulhijja is renowned worldwide as the month during which millions of Muslims perform the Hajj pilgrimage—the fifth pillar of Islam—and observe Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice.
These events hold immense religious significance, symbolizing devotion, sacrifice, and unity among Muslims globally.
The declaration followed meticulous moon-sighting efforts carried out by religious authorities, alongside consultations with Islamic scholars to ensure accuracy in the lunar calendar.
The Sultan emphasized the importance of adhering to traditional methods of moon observation, underscoring the role of faith and community consensus in determining the start of the month.
In his statement, the Sultan urged citizens and residents to prepare for the sacred days ahead by engaging in increased worship, reflection, and community support.
He also highlighted the values of compassion and generosity that are emphasized during this month, particularly through acts of charity and support for those in need.
Government agencies have announced that they will soon release detailed guidelines and special arrangements to facilitate religious observances throughout Zulhijja.
These measures aim to ensure a safe, organized, and spiritually fulfilling experience for all, particularly those participating in communal prayers, Hajj preparations, and Eid celebrations.
Community leaders and mosques across the nation are already gearing up for the month’s activities, including sermons, educational programs, and charitable initiatives that align with the spirit of Zulhijja.
Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and local religious authorities as the month progresses.
The announcement of Zulhijja’s commencement marks a period of heightened spiritual reflection and devotion, reminding the faithful of their shared heritage and the enduring principles of Islam.
