Edo Uncovers Brothel Operating in a Primary School

Edo State Government has uncovered a brothel operating inside a primary school in Esan West local government area of the state.
.
The discovery was made by the State Coordinator for the Protection of Government Property (PGP), Hon. Eugene Okolosie, who addressed a press conference in Benin City on Thursday.
According to Okolosie, the brothel was found in Ujuele Primary School, and has since been sealed by the government.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of students in the state, and has prompted the government to take swift action to recover government properties that have been encroached upon by land grabbers.
Okolosie revealed that over 2,000 plots of land have been recovered from land grabbers in the state, including lands belonging to schools. He noted that 70% of the state’s moat has been taken over by land grabbers, with public schools being the most affected.
In Ambrose Alli University (AAU) alone, the government has recovered plots of land from land grabbers who had forged signatures of community members to acquire the land.
The PGP Coordinator also disclosed that the agency has received over 3,000 petitions from communities regarding illegal acquisition of government property in the last two months.
He vowed to recover such properties and ensure that those involved in the illegal activities are prosecuted.
Okolosie commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for providing legal counsels to the agency, which has enabled them to prosecute offenders and recover government properties.
He appealed to members of the public who want to acquire landed property to clear from the Edo Geographic Information Service (Edo GIS) to avoid falling victims to the criminal activities of land grabbers and speculators.
The Edo State Government has launched an investigation into the sale of a food silo and other government properties in Iyoba community. Okolosie revealed that the community had shared the school into two parts and sold half of the school to individuals. He said that those suspected to be involved in the illegal sale have been invited for questioning.
The government has also commenced discussions on how to convert some of the recovered properties into useful infrastructure. Okolosie said that the government is committed to protecting its properties and ensuring that they are used for the benefit of the people.
