Jandor Returns to APC, Vows to Support Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid

Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.

This move comes after his recent departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he contested the 2023 Lagos State governorship election.

During a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the APC state secretariat, Jandor emphasized the importance of party unity and collaboration to consolidate power and counter the efforts of opposition coalitions.

“We will use our numerical strength to return Tinubu in 2027. We know those who worked against our party in the last election. We are back to add value and strengthen the base. We must be strategic and focused on keeping Lagos and the country in progressive hands,” Jandor declared.

Jandor’s political journey has been marked by significant shifts. Originally a member of the APC, he defected to the PDP in 2022 to pursue his governorship ambition. In the 2023 election, he came in third behind Governor Sanwo-Olu of the APC and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party. Reflecting on the loss, Jandor cited the unexpected momentum of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, as a major factor that altered voter behavior and shifted support away from traditional party lines.

Following the 2023 elections, Jandor engaged in strategic consultations with key political figures, including President Tinubu.

His return to the APC is seen as a recalibration of his political direction and an effort to reestablish his relevance within the dominant party structure in Lagos and nationally.

Although Jandor has not officially declared his intention to contest in the 2027 Lagos governorship election, he expressed openness to the possibility if the party deems it appropriate.

The APC leadership welcomed Jandor’s return, hailing it as a significant step toward fortifying the party’s base in Lagos State. Governor Sanwo-Olu, in response, praised Jandor’s decision, stating that reconciliation and unity remain vital for sustained political success.

Jandor’s re-entry into the APC is expected to reshape political dynamics in Lagos and may have broader implications as Nigeria approaches another pivotal election cycle.
