TMS South-South Coordinator Urges Youths, Women to Back Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election
The South-South Zonal Coordinator of Tinubu Must Stay (TMS), Ogie Clement, has urged youths and women across the region to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, stressing the need for continuity in ongoing government projects and development initiatives.
Clement made the appeal on Friday at the TMS Town Hall Meeting and Industrial Training Workshop held at Tamara Hall in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where he highlighted the importance of equipping young people and women with practical skills to improve their economic livelihoods.
He described the event as a platform for empowerment and economic advancement rather than solely a political gathering, noting that sustainable empowerment required equipping beneficiaries with skills that would promote self-reliance.
According to him, the Tinubu administration has taken significant steps towards national development, urging Nigerians to support the government’s ongoing programmes instead of abandoning them midway.
Clement cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, empowerment initiatives and interventions in oil-producing communities as examples of projects through which the South-South region had benefited from the Federal Government.
He argued that discontinuing ongoing projects could undermine the country’s development aspirations, maintaining that the administration should be given the opportunity to complete its initiatives.
The zonal coordinator also encouraged participants at the workshop to maximise the training opportunity by acquiring relevant skills, engaging actively and establishing networks that could enhance their economic prospects.
He said the TMS movement was committed to improving the welfare of Nigerians through grassroots mobilisation and empowerment programmes, adding that the economic advancement of individuals and communities would contribute to the development of the region and the country.
Clement further called on coordinators of the movement across the six South-South states to strengthen their mobilisation efforts at the local government, ward and community levels.
He urged members to maintain unity and resist divisive tendencies within the organisation and the region.
The coordinator expressed appreciation to the Bayelsa State chapter for hosting the meeting and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to supporting Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the event, a political science lecturer at the Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Chukwuebuka Okoye, appealed to Nigerians to allow the President more time for his economic reforms to yield tangible benefits.
Okoye likened the reform process to agricultural cultivation, explaining that economic policies required time to produce meaningful results.
He, however, stressed that the outcomes of the reforms must reflect in improved access to affordable food, employment opportunities, reliable electricity and enhanced security.
The lecturer also urged stakeholders in Bayelsa State to convey the developmental needs and expectations of residents to the Federal Government as the country approaches the 2027 elections.
