Ronaldo Jr Moves Up to Portugal Under 17 Squad for European Qualifiers
Cristiano Ronaldo Jr has received his first call up to Portugal’s Under 17 side, taking another step through the country’s youth ranks.
The 16 year old forward, who plays in the Al Nassr academy in Saudi Arabia, was named by head coach Filipe Ramos in a 23 player squad for Portugal’s European Championship qualifying matches this month.
Portugal begin their campaign against Andorra on November 11, then face Bulgaria on November 14 and Serbia on November 17. All three games will be played in Lisbon, and the top two teams in the group will advance to the next qualifying round.
The selection follows spells with the Under 15 and Under 16 teams. Ronaldo Jr made his Portugal debut at Under 15 level in May 2025 and has since scored five goals in 13 appearances for the country’s youth sides. He is also eligible to represent the United States, Spain, England and Cape Verde, but has played for Portugal at every age group so far.
His father, Cristiano Ronaldo, remains Portugal’s captain and record goalscorer, and has previously said he would welcome the chance to share a pitch with his son one day.
