Report Online Vendors Who Deliver Wrong Products, Lagos Govt Urges Residents

The Lagos State Government has urged consumers to report online vendors who deliver goods different from what was ordered to its consumer protection agency for appropriate action.

The call was made by the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, LASCOPA, which said it has observed a growing trend of online sellers deceiving buyers by delivering inferior or completely different items from what was advertised and paid for.

According to the agency, consumers who fall victim to such fraudulent practices should not hesitate to lodge complaints with LASCOPA, assuring that all reported cases will be thoroughly investigated and addressed in line with consumer protection laws.

The image accompanying the report showed the official logo of LASCOPA, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, which is responsible for safeguarding the rights of consumers and ensuring fair trade practices across the state.

The agency noted that many consumers suffer in silence after being cheated by online vendors, stressing that reporting such incidents will help the government to track dubious sellers and prevent them from continuing to defraud other unsuspecting buyers.

It further advised residents to always keep evidence of transactions such as payment receipts, chats and pictures of items ordered and delivered, as such evidence will aid investigation and speedy resolution of complaints.

LASCOPA reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to protecting consumers from exploitation and unfair trade practices, urging online business owners to be honest and transparent in their dealings with customers.
