The Adamawa State Police Command has strengthened security across Yola ahead of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s scheduled visit to the state.

Heavily armed personnel and armoured vehicles have been deployed to strategic locations across the state capital as part of measures to ensure a peaceful and orderly visit.

The Vice President is expected in Adamawa to pay a condolence visit to the family of the late Bamanga Tukur.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabir Hassan, directed the deployment of personnel from various units, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, intelligence teams and traffic officers.

The command also announced plans for traffic diversions and stop-and-search operations around Yola and other areas connected to the visit.

The police urged residents to cooperate with security personnel and comply with lawful instructions throughout the period.

The command further warned individuals with criminal intentions against approaching venues associated with the Vice President’s visit, stressing that anyone attempting to disrupt public peace would face appropriate action.

Residents were also advised to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest police station.

The police assured residents of continued efforts to protect lives and property before, during and after the Vice President’s visit.
