Troops of 143 Battalion, Forward Operating Base Isuochi, have raided suspected criminal hideouts along the Enugu–Lopanta Road in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State. The operation targeted groups believed to be involved in attacks on motorists along the highway.

Military sources said the raid took place at about 4:45 p.m. on September 7, 2026. It followed reports of criminal activities affecting travellers using the route.

During the operation, the troops arrested two suspects allegedly linked to the attacks on motorists. The individuals were taken into custody for further investigation.

A driver who sustained injuries during one of the incidents was evacuated to Christ the King Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention. His condition is being monitored by medical personnel.

Security forces said efforts are continuing to sustain operations against criminal elements operating along the highway. The raid forms part of ongoing measures to improve safety for motorists and residents in the area.
