Former Kano State governorship candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has dismissed reports suggesting he may return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that he remains committed to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Gawuna said he has no intention of leaving the ADC despite ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former deputy governor maintained that his decision to join the ADC was taken after careful consideration and remains unchanged.

He also rejected claims that his unsuccessful bid for the governorship ticket of the National Democratic Coalition-linked political movement had weakened his resolve to remain in the party.

According to him, political parties should be built on principles, loyalty and long-term commitment rather than personal ambition.

Gawuna stressed that he would continue working with other party members to strengthen the ADC’s presence in Kano State and prepare for future electoral contests.

His comments come amid increasing speculation over possible defections and alliances as political parties reposition themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.

The former APC chieftain urged his supporters to remain focused and continue supporting the party’s efforts to provide an alternative platform for Nigerians.
