Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has congratulated former Zamfara State Governor and serving Senator for Zamfara West, Abdul’aziz Yari, on his appointment as Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 elections.

Yusuf, in a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, described Yari’s appointment as a recognition of his political experience, leadership capacity and contributions to national development.

The Kano governor expressed confidence that Yari would effectively coordinate the ruling party’s presidential campaign and mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Yusuf, Yari’s experience in governance and legislative leadership would be an asset to the APC as it prepares for the election.

He urged the newly appointed campaign council director-general to remain committed to promoting unity within the party and advancing its interests.

Yusuf also prayed for divine wisdom, strength and good health for Yari as he assumes the new responsibility.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council was formally constituted on August 22, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed chairman and Vice President Kashim Shettima serving as vice-chairman.

The party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, was also named a vice-chairman, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was appointed secretary.

Yari, who served as Zamfara governor between 2011 and 2019, currently represents Zamfara West in the Senate.

His appointment places him at the centre of the APC’s efforts to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Since his appointment, Yari has pledged that the ruling party will work to fulfil its campaign promises to Nigerians, while party leaders and supporters have described his selection as a reflection of his political experience and organisational ability.
