Orbih Was a Courageous, Kind Party Loyalist, Says Imasuagbon
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress and former Edo State governorship aspirant, Kenneth Imasuagbon, has described the late Dan Orbih as a courageous, compassionate and loyal politician. He said Orbih’s death has left a deep vacuum in Edo State’s political landscape.
In a statement on Sunday, Imasuagbon said he received the news of Orbih’s passing with shock and sadness. He recalled that the former Peoples Democratic Party National Vice Chairman was not only a skilled politician but also a kind-hearted man whose generosity touched many lives, especially in difficult times.
Imasuagbon highlighted one act of kindness he would never forget: Orbih’s support after he was involved in an accident and was receiving treatment in a London hospital. He also recalled that during the administration of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, he and Orbih jointly led the opposition in Edo State, with Orbih’s residence in Benin serving as a meeting point for party members.
He praised Orbih’s courage and commitment to democracy, noting that the late politician never wavered in standing by those he believed in. Imasuagbon also spoke of Orbih’s colourful personality and ability to inspire supporters during campaigns, saying he brought humour into politics.
The ADC chieftain extended condolences to Orbih’s family, praying that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss. The Orbih family had earlier announced that the prominent Edo politician passed away on August 31, 2026.
