Sokoto Governor’s Aide Challenges Opposition to Present Records for 2027

The Sokoto State Government has urged opposition politicians seeking to govern the state in 2027 to present their records of service and achievements to the people.

The call was made by Nura Mahe, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ahmad Aliyu on Strategic Communication.

In a statement titled “2027: Let the Records Speak,” Mahe said political debates ahead of the election should focus on verifiable results rather than propaganda or unproven claims. He stressed that measurable achievements should form the basis of any campaign.

He highlighted the administration’s efforts in employment and human capital development, including the recruitment of 3,000 workers into the state civil service. He also pointed to the approval of 2,440 community health workers for deployment across the state’s 244 wards to improve primary healthcare and create jobs.

Mahe challenged aspirants to account for their past responsibilities, asking how many jobs they had created, how many people they had empowered and what institutions they had built. He noted that Governor Aliyu’s previous experience as commissioner, deputy governor and pioneer Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund had guided interventions in security, education, healthcare and other sectors.

The aide said the governor would present his own record and expected the opposition to do the same. He insisted that voters should compare the records side by side, arguing that the key question in 2027 should be who has shown what they can deliver, rather than simply who wants to govern.
