Tinubu, APC Governors Move to Resolve Campaign List Crisis
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held closed-door talks with All Progressives Congress governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to resolve the controversy surrounding the party’s Presidential Campaign Council list released last Saturday.
The governors arrived at the President’s office shortly before 4 p.m. after attending a National Economic Council session chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima. Consultations on the matter began on Wednesday and continued into Thursday.
The original list drew strong criticism over the inclusion of some party members currently facing corruption charges. Some sections of the party also claimed they were not properly consulted during its preparation.
Party sources said the list has been reviewed and that the earlier version has been removed from the party’s social media account.
A new list is expected once the President approves the proposed changes from the meetings.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, earlier stated that the list remains valid but is not final. He said adjustments would be made where necessary and that more names would be added through subcommittees still to be formed.
