Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have foiled multiple terrorist attacks in Katsina and Kebbi States. In coordinated operations, the soldiers neutralised two terrorists, rescued abducted construction workers, recovered arms and motorcycles, and supported a drug interception effort.

On 14 August 2026, troops of Sector 2 responded to reported terrorist activities in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State. After a fierce exchange of fire, the soldiers neutralised two terrorists and forced the remaining attackers to flee. One AK-47 rifle and a magazine were recovered during the operation.

In a separate engagement under Operation Clean Sweep IV in southern Kebbi State, troops answered a distress call after construction workers were abducted at Tsatsunbe village. The rapid response forced the attackers to abandon their captives and escape, leaving three motorcycles behind.

All the construction workers were successfully rescued and returned safely to their camp. One worker who sustained an injury during the incident was quickly evacuated to a military medical facility, where he is receiving treatment.

The operations form part of ongoing efforts by Operation Fansan Yamma to protect communities, secure critical infrastructure and disrupt terrorist activities across the North West. Security forces continue to intensify patrols and respond to threats in the region.
