Dangote to Sink N15 Billion into His University in 5 Years

In a move aimed at transforming the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil (ADUSTECH) into a world-class institution, Africa’s richest man and Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has announced plans to commit N15 billion to the university’s development over the next five years.

Dangote, who is also the Chancellor of the university, made the announcement during the 5th combined convocation ceremony of the institution on Saturday.

He outlined a comprehensive development plan that will see the university undergo significant transformations, including the construction of new student hostels, classrooms, and a world-class multipurpose computer laboratory.

According to Dangote, the N15 billion commitment will be used to fund several key projects, including:

•The design and construction of additional student hostels to improve accommodation facilities for students

•The building of new classrooms to enhance the learning environment

•The installation of a mini solar plant to ensure a constant power supply

•The construction of a befitting Senate building to provide a suitable environment for the university’s administrative staff

•The provision of post-NYSC slots and employment opportunities for the best-performing graduates in engineering and related fields

Dangote emphasized that the execution of the development plan will be carried out in close partnership with the university’s Governing Council, with a proper project management structure in place to ensure that the projects are completed on budget and on schedule.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, expressed his gratitude to Dangote for his commitment to the university’s development.

He revealed that he inherited a liability of N3 billion when he assumed office, but the current administration of Governor Abba Yusuf has settled over N2 billion of the debt.

Prof. Yakasai also announced that over 30 out of 40 programs run by the institution have been fully accredited, a testament to the university’s commitment to academic excellence.

In his remarks, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, who was also in attendance, announced that the state government has approved the construction of road networks and drainages within the university.

He also hinted that plans are underway to carry out other interventions within the institution to support its growth and development.

The N15 billion commitment by Dangote is a significant boost to the university’s development plans and is expected to have a positive impact on the institution’s ability to provide quality education to its students. With this investment, ADUSTECH is poised to become one of the top universities in Nigeria and a center of excellence in science and technology.
