Former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Ibrahim Aliyu, has died after a prolonged illness, according to family sources.

Aliyu, who served as deputy governor between 2007 and 2015 during the administration of Saidu Usman Dakingari, reportedly passed away in Sokoto.

Reacting to the development, Nasir Idris described the former deputy governor’s death as a significant loss to the Yauri Emirate, Kebbi State and the country.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, the governor said Aliyu was widely admired for his integrity, humility and commitment to public service throughout his career.

He noted that the deceased made valuable contributions both as a career civil servant and as deputy governor, adding that his dedication to the development of Kebbi State earned him the respect of many across the state.

According to the governor, Aliyu’s record of leadership and service would remain a source of inspiration for future generations, describing his contributions to the state’s growth and the welfare of its people as enduring.

Governor Idris also prayed for Allah to forgive the late statesman and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

He extended condolences to Aliyu’s family, the Yauri Emirate and the people of Kebbi State, while praying that they receive the strength to bear the loss.
