Economist Confirms Strong Macro Indicators Boosting Investor Confidence in Nigeria
Renowned Economist, Professor Uche Uwaleke has stated that Nigeria’s improving macroeconomic performance is restoring confidence among both foreign and local investors.
He noted that the stock exchange, bonds, and foreign reserves are all showing positive signs.
Speaking on Arise Tv News, the economist explained that the country has not defaulted on its loans. He said this record of meeting obligations is one of the key factors that international rating agencies and multilateral lenders carefully examine when assessing a country’s economic health.
Uwaleke pointed out that yields on Nigeria’s sovereign bonds have improved. All the outstanding bonds, including the one maturing in 2047, are currently trading above their issue prices, reflecting strong market confidence.
He added that investors are responding to visible improvements in the economy and the consistent growth in key results. According to him, these developments are attracting more interest from both domestic and international players.
The professor maintained that there is no serious cause for concern regarding investor confidence. He said the positive outlook will continue as long as the country keeps meeting its financial obligations and sustaining the current economic gains.
