Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has surprised his former record label signee Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, better known as Mayorkun, with a brand new Tesla Cybertruck, in a gesture that has stirred excitement across Nigeria’s entertainment scene.

The DMW label boss announced the gift on his Instagram Story on Sunday, sharing a photo of the sleek, futuristic electric pickup truck alongside a heartfelt message directed at his former protégé.

He wrote a simple but affectionate note telling Mayorkun that the truck was his gift and an expression of love, before instructing an associate to ensure the vehicle was delivered without delay.

Although Davido did not disclose the exact cost of the vehicle, the Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most talked about electric vehicles in the world, distinguished by its bold, angular stainless steel exterior. In the United States, the model typically retails from around $70,000 depending on specification, but industry estimates suggest the truck could be worth well over N200 million once shipping and import duties are factored in for the Nigerian market.

The gesture comes years after Mayorkun departed from Davido Music Worldwide to pursue an independent career. He was first signed to the label in 2016 after Davido discovered one of his cover videos online, a discovery that eventually produced his breakout hit Eleko and his debut album The Mayor of Lagos.

Despite officially exiting DMW in 2021, Mayorkun and Davido have continued to maintain a close and visible bond, regularly celebrating each other’s achievements publicly. The latest gift has been widely seen online as a fresh reminder that the ties between the two artistes remain as strong as ever, with fans and colleagues within the industry reacting warmly to the display of loyalty and affection.
