Makinde Says Late Father Was Only Person Who Could Tell Him Hard Truths
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has revealed that his late father was the only person who could look him in the eyes and tell him the truth, even when it was difficult to hear.
He shared this during the 14th memorial service held in honour of Pa Olatunbosun Makinde in Ibadan.
The governor described his father as a candid adviser, close friend, and companion. He said he still misses the guidance and honest counsel his father provided throughout his life.
Bishop Williams Aladekugbe of the Ibadan North Diocese described the late Olatunbosun Makinde as a devoted Christian who served God, the Church, and the community. He urged Christians to follow the example of faith and service set by the deceased.
The bishop also congratulated the governor on the recent rescue of abducted teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area. He praised the peaceful atmosphere in Oyo State under Makinde’s leadership over the past seven years.
Governor Makinde, accompanied by his senior brother, laid wreaths at the graves of his late father and mother. The service served as a moment of reflection and remembrance for the family and the community.
