Suspected bandits have abducted Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court after attacking his residence in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The incident occurred around midnight on Sunday, shortly after the judge returned from a trip to Sokoto. According to security and local sources, the armed assailants invaded his residence along Zogirma Road and whisked him away.

Witnesses said the attackers fired several gunshots during the operation, creating panic in the area, but no other occupant of the house was injured. The incident was promptly reported to security authorities and the leadership of the Kebbi State High Court.

Confirming the abduction, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, said Justice Bunza was taken from his residence in Bunza at about midnight.

Usman disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammad Hadejia, immediately ordered the deployment of tactical and intelligence teams to track down the kidnappers and secure the judge’s safe release.

He also revealed that the management of the Kebbi State High Court had met with heads of security agencies in the state to coordinate efforts aimed at rescuing the judge as quickly as possible.

As of the time of filing this report, no group had claimed responsibility for the abduction, while security agencies continued search and rescue operations.
