Multiple Crash on Kara Bridge Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
A fatal multi-vehicle accident occurring on the Kara Bridge corridor along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway early Friday morning resulted in one confirmed death and left two others with varying degrees of injuries.
According to emergency response officials, the incident was triggered when an articulated truck carrying bags of monosodium glutamate suffered a sudden brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and overturn across the highway.
The overturned heavy-duty vehicle obstructed roughly three-quarters of the road, causing immediate traffic gridlock and prompting a secondary collision involving a Toyota Sienna, a mini truck transporting paint, a flatbed vehicle loaded with imported plywood, and another commercial truck.
Rescuers from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency arrived at the scene to find an adult male trapped beneath the main wreckage, where he was declared dead before his body was recovered and transferred to road safety officials.
Emergency personnel and traffic control agencies spent hours clearing the scattered cargo, paint spills, and damaged vehicles from the roadway to restore normal traffic movement along the busy interstate route.
