APC Chairman Predicts North Will Give Tinubu Over 70% of Votes in 2027

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has predicted that the North will deliver more than 70 per cent of its votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. He made the forecast on Saturday at the commissioning of the Arewa for Asiwaju secretariat in Abuja.

Yilwatda urged northerners to support Tinubu’s re-election, pointing to major infrastructure projects, appointments and other initiatives of the current administration. He listed road works across the region, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, irrigation dams, railway projects, healthcare programmes and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as key reasons for continued support.

He highlighted completed and ongoing roads, including the routes from Abuja to Kaduna and Kano, as well as links from Kano to Maiduguri, covering hundreds of kilometres. The APC chairman said the President had spread road projects across all geopolitical zones in the North.

Yilwatda also pointed to the presence of Vice President Kashim Shettima as another strong reason for the region to back the joint ticket. He said if northern voters simply deliver strong results in their home towns and polling units, Tinubu would secure over 70 per cent of the votes from the area.

Former Kebbi State Governor and Director-General of Arewa for Asiwaju, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, said the campaign group would mobilise support across the North through governors, legislators, traditional institutions and youths. He described the newly opened secretariat as the base for organising activities from the national level down to the wards and polling units.
