The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has disclosed that its operational teams successfully confiscated more than two billion individual tramadol tablets across the country over the last 18 months.

The leadership of the agency gave these figures during an official facility visit to maritime and trade logistics infrastructure located within the Lekki corridor in Lagos State, highlighting that the massive interceptions were executed through coordinated interdiction operations alongside intelligence partnerships maintained with law enforcement authorities in India and Pakistan.

The agency’s leadership warned syndicate operators against utilizing commercial maritime gateways or regional land transit routes to import prohibited substances, stressing that security apparatuses have significantly upgraded surveillance, joint monitoring, and operational intelligence sharing with partner bodies such as the Nigeria Customs Service and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

In addition to the multi-billion pill seizures, anti-narcotics officers recently disrupted a high-capacity illegal methamphetamine manufacturing facility situated within Ogun State, capable of yielding hundreds of millions of dollars worth of synthetic drugs if left operational.

Officials reiterated the urgent need for parents and community leaders to remain vigilant against youth substance abuse, while emphasizing that legislative reforms tightening legal penalties against drug traffickers will further bolster ongoing national security operations.
