Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, have uncovered an illegal tertiary institution operating in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State and rescued 106 unsuspecting students.

The illegal establishment, operating under the name “Noble Academy,” was shut down during a sting operation carried out by the command’s intelligence and tactical units following sustained surveillance and complaints from concerned citizens.

The operators of the fake university had been issuing fake admission letters and unaccredited certificates to vulnerable youths seeking higher education, collecting substantial sums in tuition and administrative fees under false pretenses.

During the raid, security personnel arrested the principal promoter and five key staff members involved in running the unaccredited institution. Operatives also confiscated several exhibits, including counterfeit institutional stamps, fake academic certificates, admission processing forms, and promotional flyers.

The Commandant of the Lagos State Command of the NSCDC confirmed that all 106 rescued students have been documented and released to their families with guidance on seeking genuine academic pathways.

Meanwhile, the arrested suspects and seized items have been processed for further investigation and prosecution to face the full weight of the law. The NSCDC warned members of the public, particularly prospective university candidates and parents, to thoroughly verify the accreditation status of higher learning institutions with the National Universities Commission (NUC) before enrolling.
