Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have carried out a clearance operation across several communities in Borno State as part of ongoing efforts to prevent ISWAP terrorists from regrouping and launching attacks on military formations.

The operation, conducted on Monday by personnel of the 212 Battalion alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), targeted communities surrounding the Forward Operating Bases in Gajigana and Tungushe following intelligence reports of suspected terrorist activity.

Security sources said the joint team, supported by gun trucks and motorcycles, advanced into the affected areas and carried out systematic searches of buildings and other locations believed to be of operational interest.

Although no weapons, explosives or other incriminating materials were recovered, troops engaged with residents to obtain information on the movement and activities of suspected terrorists within the communities.

The clearance patrol covered Shotorom, Degemram and Kongolo villages, where extensive searches were conducted without any encounter with ISWAP fighters.

At the end of the exercise, the commanding officer met with community and youth leaders, urging them to remain vigilant and prevent terrorists from using their communities as hideouts or staging grounds for attacks on security personnel.

Military sources described the operation as successful, noting that it was completed without casualties or operational setbacks.

The sources added that similar clearance missions and fighting patrols would continue across the North-East to restrict the movement of ISWAP insurgents, strengthen security around military positions and consolidate recent operational gains.
