Police Arrest Acclaimed DG of Phantom Presidential Council Over Multi-Billion Naira Budget Fraud

The Nigeria Police have officially arrested Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the controversial and disowned Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, following an intense security crackdown on the fictitious agency.

Operating from a rented space on the second floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja, the suspect had successfully established a sprawling operation, complete with fake appointment letters and over three hundred staff members placed on simulated government structures.

The arrest, initiated after a petition from the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, has brought a dramatic end to a high-profile saga that has gripped the nation’s political landscape.

According to a detailed police investigation report, Adeyemi operated a sophisticated syndicate that forged presidential appointment letters, official reference numbers, and government seals bearing the Nigerian Coat of Arms.

Using these falsified credentials, he not only misleadingly secured office allocations but also successfully requested the deployment of civil servants from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

Investigators also uncovered that the suspect operated dozens of unauthorized bank accounts and had even initiated diplomatic correspondences, including a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for official visas to facilitate international travel for his supposed staff.

The suspect now faces an eight-count charge bordering on forgery, impersonation, and fraudulent misrepresentation before the Federal High Court in Abuja. While the presidency has strongly distanced itself from the operation and labeled Adeyemi a serial con artist, public debate remains intense regarding how a non-existent council managed to secure a one point three billion naira allocation in the national budget.

The security agencies have assured the public that all accomplices and collaborators within the civil service who aided this massive administrative infiltration will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.
