Police Arrest 10 Suspected Cultists Over Deadly Attacks in Bayelsa State

The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected cultists in connection with a deadly attack that claimed the lives of several individuals in Yenagoa, the state capital.

The arrests were made during a series of coordinated, intelligence-led raids conducted by the command’s tactical teams and the anti-cultism unit at various hideouts across the state. Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer for the command stated that the suspects are believed to belong to rival cult groups whose violent clashes have recently terrorized local residents and disrupted public peace.

During the security operations, police operatives recovered an assortment of dangerous weapons, including locally made pistols, live ammunition, axes, and charms, which the suspects allegedly used to execute their operations.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested individuals were directly linked to the recent wave of street violence, armed robberies, and retaliatory killings that have plagued several neighborhoods in the state capital. The state command has assured the public that the suspects are undergoing rigorous interrogation to identify their sponsors and arrest remaining accomplices still at large.

The Commissioner of Police has reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling all criminal syndicates and restoring absolute peace to Bayelsa State. He urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to closely monitor their wards and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely, actionable information on suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.

The police boss added that once investigations are concluded, all ten suspects will be formally charged in court to face the full wrath of the law.
