Beheaded Man’s Body Discovered on University of Jos Farmland, Sparks Panic

Fear has spread across the University of Jos community after the beheaded body of a middle-aged man was found on a farmland within the institution on Tuesday morning.

The gruesome discovery left students, staff, and residents in shock as the victim’s head was missing from the scene. The circumstances surrounding the killing are still unclear, and security agencies have launched investigations.

A 300-level student of the university, Pius Atok, said the body was discovered on a farm near the university community. A senior university official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the deceased was not a student or staff member of the institution. The victim was known locally as a farmer who frequently worked on the land where his body was found.

The official said it appeared the man was attacked early in the morning while tending to his crops. Those responsible seemed to have come specifically to kill him and took away his head. The victim’s family has been informed, and arrangements are being made to move the body from the scene.

The University of Jos management is aware of the incident and is expected to release an official statement soon.

The Information Directorate is currently managing the situation and will provide updates through the university’s official channels. Attempts to get a comment from the Plateau State Police Command were unsuccessful.

The incident has raised serious security concerns within the university environment. Residents in the area are demanding increased security presence to prevent similar attacks. The police are expected to intensify their investigation to determine the motive behind the killing.

The university community remains tense as they await further information on the case.
