Kiekie’s Old He’s Not Funny to Me Comment on Mr Macaroni Resurfaces
A resurfaced clip from a months-old interview has thrust content creator and comedian, Kiekie back into the spotlight, after she named fellow skit maker, Mr Macaroni as one of the few colleagues whose comedy has genuinely never made her laugh.
The moment comes from an interview recorded for Ify’s Kitchen on YouTube, where Kiekie, whose real name is Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, was put through a rapid-fire round of questions about her peers in the Nigerian comedy scene.
Asked to name a skit maker whose content she does not find funny, she didn’t hesitate long before pointing to Mr Macaroni, prompting the interviewer to note that she had answered quickly because the two are close and well acquainted.
When pushed to elaborate, Kiekie pulled back slightly, choosing instead to stress that comedy is subjective and admitting she is well aware that some people don’t find her own content funny either.
The remarks carry a certain irony given the pair’s history, as Kiekie and Mr Macaroni previously worked together on The Housemaids, a well-received collaborative skit series that also featured actress Bimbo Ademoye, making the comment about his comedy unexpected in light of their creative partnership.
Elsewhere in the same conversation, Kiekie touched on why she avoids working with certain content creators altogether, drawing a hard line at skits she considers too vulgar or overtly sexual, framing it as a matter of brand alignment rather than judgment. She was careful to add that steering clear of a collaboration doesn’t mean she disrespects another creator’s hustle or hard work, though when pressed to name anyone specifically in that category, she declined.
Kiekie remains one of Nigeria’s most prominent female content creators, with a broad following across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok built on her comedy skits, acting roles and brand partnerships, alongside a growing footprint in Nollywood productions.
