Skygrid CEO, Chimaobi Ike Drives Cloud, AI Adoption Across Africa
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Skygrid Global Technologies, Chimaobi Eustace Ike, is leading efforts to accelerate digital transformation across Africa by helping businesses, governments and institutions adopt cloud computing, artificial intelligence and data-driven technologies to improve efficiency, scalability and long-term growth.
Ike, whose career spans architecture, product design and enterprise cloud computing, currently heads Skygrid Global Technologies, an AWS Advanced Tier Partner that provides cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity, DevOps automation and artificial intelligence solutions across sectors including financial services, healthcare, education, telecommunications, logistics, manufacturing and the public sector.
Speaking on his approach to digital transformation, Ike said technology should deliver measurable business value rather than exist for its own sake, stressing that organisations require trusted partners to innovate faster, scale efficiently and achieve sustainable growth.
Before assuming executive leadership, he served as a Solutions Architect and later Lead Solutions Architect at SoftGem Global Technologies, where he led enterprise cloud transformation projects for major organisations.
Among his notable achievements was leading the migration of mission-critical applications for FBN Quest to Amazon Web Services, while also designing cloud-native banking applications using microservices architecture to improve system performance, strengthen regulatory compliance and reduce operational costs.
He also worked with Fewchore Mobile to modernise its cloud infrastructure by implementing AWS Security Hub, strengthening Amazon S3 security practices and optimising cloud spending.
Ike’s expertise is backed by multiple Amazon Web Services certifications, including the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification, alongside the Associate and Cloud Practitioner credentials.
His journey into technology began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, after which he worked as a junior architect and building designer in Lagos on commercial developments and renovation projects.
He later transitioned into product design in 2020, focusing on developing user-centred web, mobile and enterprise applications while mentoring young designers, a move that paved the way for his career in cloud solutions architecture.
Under Ike’s leadership, Skygrid Global Technologies has expanded its offerings beyond cloud migration to include generative and agentic artificial intelligence, predictive data analytics, cybersecurity and DevOps automation, positioning the company to support organisations seeking to modernise their technology infrastructure.
He said the future of business competitiveness lies in effectively combining cloud computing, artificial intelligence and data-driven decision-making, describing AI as an immediate strategic capability rather than a future trend.
Ike’s career reflects a transition from designing physical structures to building digital infrastructure, applying principles of planning, resilience and scalability to help organisations navigate an increasingly technology-driven business environment.
