NDLEA Nabs Nigerian-British Grandmother with 13kg Cocaine Concealed in Plantain Peels
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a Nigerian-British grandmother caught trying to bring 13 kilograms of cocaine into the country. The drugs were cleverly hidden inside plantain peels, a method that surprised many officials involved in the operation.
This case has once again drawn attention to the creative ways drug traffickers use to smuggle substances across borders.
The elderly woman, who holds dual nationality, was apprehended during routine checks at one of the country’s entry points. NDLEA officers became suspicious after noticing something unusual with her luggage. Upon closer inspection, they discovered the large quantity of cocaine carefully packaged to look like ordinary food items.
Authorities are now questioning the suspect to uncover whether she was working alone or as part of a larger trafficking network. Cases involving older individuals in drug-related crimes often raise questions about how vulnerable people get pulled into such activities.
The NDLEA has vowed to continue aggressive efforts to dismantle syndicates that target different age groups for their operations.
This arrest adds to the growing list of successful interdictions by the agency in recent times. Drug trafficking remains a serious challenge that affects families and communities across Nigeria. Officials hope that high-profile busts like this one will serve as a strong warning to others considering similar crimes.
As investigations proceed, the NDLEA is expected to prosecute the case fully to ensure justice is served. The incident highlights the need for constant vigilance at all entry points and greater public awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. For now, the focus remains on following due process while sending a clear message that no one is above the law.
