Delta Police Impound Vehicles, Arrest 202 in Intelligence-Led Raid

The Delta State Police Command have arrested 202 suspects, comprising 102 males and 100 females, following an intelligence-led raid on identified black spots, brothels and suspected illicit drug dens in Asaba metropolis.

The suspects are being held on offences bordering on operating brothels, possession and sale of suspected illicit drugs, and other related crimes.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer for the command, SP Bright Edafe, the operation was carried out on Saturday and led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, alongside other officers of the command.

Edafe explained that the raid followed credible intelligence generated by the State Intelligence Department, describing it as part of the command’s sustained crackdown on criminal activities across Delta State.

Beyond the arrests, the operation also led to the impoundment of five motor vehicles, 10 tricycles and 10 motorcycles, all seized for violations of extant traffic regulations, the state-imposed restriction on tricycle operations, and the ban on motorcycles in designated areas.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and sustained enforcement operations against all forms of criminality.

He assured residents that the command would continue to deny criminal elements the space to operate, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and support the police with credible and timely information.
