NDLEA Intercepts Thousands of Tramadol Capsules Hidden Inside Vehicle Fuel Tanks
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully disrupted a highly calculated drug smuggling operation, seizing 43,980 capsules of tramadol. The illicit narcotics were found meticulously packed inside two massive automotive fuel tanks.
According to a public statement by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the suspect had specifically traveled to Onitsha, Anambra State, to acquire the large fuel tanks for the sole purpose of modifying them into hidden compartments for drug trafficking.
The smuggler managed to navigate the hidden cargo through numerous security checkpoints spanning multiple states. However, the illicit run came to an end in the Wukari region of Taraba State, where alert NDLEA operatives intercepted the vehicle, cut open the fuel tanks, and exposed the hidden contraband.
