Nigerian Army Releases Shortlist for SSCC Course 50/2027, Sets November 23 Reporting Date

The Nigerian Army has released the list of shortlisted candidates for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027 Selection Board, scheduled to hold from November 23 to December 11, 2026.

The Army announced that successful candidates are to check their names on its recruitment portal, https://nashortservice.army.mil.ng, and report to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Ribadu Campus, Old Site, Kaduna State, on November 23.

According to a public announcement signed by the Acting Military Secretary (Army), candidates are expected to arrive between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., warning that anyone who reports after the stipulated deadline will be automatically disqualified.

The shortlisted candidates are required to present original copies and at least two photocopies of their academic and professional certificates, including testimonials, NYSC discharge or exemption certificates, evidence of age or birth, and state of origin certificates.

Other mandatory documents include an authenticated Bank Verification Number (BVN) certificate, National Identification Number (NIN) slip or card, and completed printouts from the SSCC recruitment portal, including referee forms. Military personnel are also required to present their official leave or pass, military identity cards and letters of recommendation from their commanding officers.

The Army further directed candidates to come with writing materials, three pairs each of blue shorts and plain white short-sleeved T-shirts, white trainers, socks, toiletries, bedding, cutlery and recent photographs. Candidates are also expected to bring scratch cards for online verification of their WAEC and/or NECO results.

Additionally, each candidate must present a consent letter duly signed by a parent or guardian, declaring that no compensation or relief will be sought for any injury or death arising from activities during the selection exercise. The letter must be prepared at a recognised court and endorsed by a Commissioner for Oaths.

The selection process will involve verification of academic and other credentials, medical examinations, physical and academic tests, as well as oral interviews.

The Army stated that candidates would be accommodated and fed throughout the exercise but would be responsible for their transportation to and from the selection venue.

It also prohibited the use of private vehicles by candidates throughout the selection period and warned that visitors would not be permitted. Any alteration to submitted documents will render them invalid, while candidates who violate the rules and instructions of the selection board risk disqualification.

The Army emphasised that a high level of discipline would be expected from all participants, adding that, given the military nature of the exercise, it would not be liable for injuries or deaths recorded during the selection process.
