Anambra CP Reiterates IGP’s Directive on Discipline, Ethical Policing

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, has directed officers of the state command to uphold professionalism, discipline and respect for the public in the discharge of their duties.

Orutugu gave the directive on Tuesday during a security conference organised by the Anambra State Police Command in Awka, attended by eight area commanders and 56 divisional police officers.

He said the call aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, stressing that professionalism remains essential to building and sustaining public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

The commissioner warned officers against acts of indiscipline, corruption, extortion, abuse of office and any conduct capable of bringing the force into disrepute.

He urged personnel to remain courteous and respectful in their interactions with members of the public, noting that public trust is one of the police’s most valuable operational assets.

Orutugu also commended the command for its performance despite the security challenges facing the state.

According to him, the command has continued to record significant operational successes, which have further strengthened its commitment to meeting the expectations of the Inspector-General of Police, the Anambra State Government and residents of the state.

He described the police uniform as a symbol of honour, sacrifice and public trust, urging officers to discharge their constitutional responsibilities with courage, integrity and professionalism.
