JAMB, Private Firm Partner to Reward 7 Outstanding Undergraduates with ₦5m Each

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in partnership with a private firm, has launched a major academic incentive initiative designed to award ₦5 million each to seven outstanding undergraduate students across Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The corporate social responsibility and merit award initiative aims to identify and financially support exceptionally brilliant undergraduates who have demonstrated sustained academic excellence, high moral character, and innovative capabilities within their respective fields of study. By providing these substantial ₦5 million cash rewards, JAMB and its partner firm intend to ease the financial burden of higher education on top-performing youth, encourage healthy academic rivalry across campuses, and directly incentivize local talent to remain focused on national development.

According to representatives driving the initiative, the selection process will be highly rigorous and strictly merit-based, evaluating candidates from different geopolitical zones to ensure equitable regional representation.

The cash prizes are expected to be utilized by the beneficiaries to fund advanced research projects, secure essential learning technologies, or seed tech-driven student startups. JAMB authorities reiterated that this partnership underscores the board’s expanded vision to not only regulate tertiary admissions but to actively foster and reward intellectual excellence throughout the lifecycle of Nigerian students’ higher education journeys.
