Lagos Issues Traffic Advisory Ahead of APC Primaries

Lagos State has issued a traffic advisory in preparation for the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025.

This move is aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and minimizing disruptions during the crucial event.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, announced that there will be road closures along the entire stretch of ACME Road, a key route in the city.

Vehicular movement will be restricted, with access to ACME Road from Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and ACME Crescent ends blocked.

Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and avoid the affected areas during the primaries.

The APC primaries are a significant event, as the party selects candidates for the local government elections slated for July 12, 2025.

In a bid to foster unity and avoid internal conflicts, the APC has adopted a consensus approach for selecting chairmanship and councillorship candidates across the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

This strategy aims to streamline the selection process and reduce friction within the party.

With the primaries set to take place on Saturday, the state government recommends that residents and commuters plan their movements ahead of time, factoring in road closures and possible traffic congestion.

The government also advises individuals to stay informed through official communications to make necessary adjustments to their travel plans.

As the primaries approach, Lagosians are urged to remain patient and cooperate with authorities to ensure a peaceful and orderly process.

The APC primaries are seen as a significant step in shaping the leadership landscape for the upcoming local government elections.
