Ireland Opens Applications for Fully Funded Master’s Scholarships for Nigerians
The Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria has announced that applications for the 2026 Ireland Fellows Programme will commence on June 29, offering eligible Nigerians the opportunity to pursue fully funded one-year Master’s degree programmes at universities in Ireland.
The embassy made the announcement in a post on its X account on Friday, stating that the fellowship targets early and mid-career professionals from Nigeria and Ghana seeking postgraduate education in Ireland.
According to the embassy, the scholarship covers tuition fees, monthly living allowances, accommodation support, return flight tickets, visa expenses and health insurance throughout the duration of the programme.
It added that prospective applicants from both countries can obtain detailed information on eligibility requirements and the application process through the official Ireland Fellows Programme portal.
To qualify, applicants must be citizens and residents of either Nigeria or Ghana, possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower division, and have at least three years of relevant professional experience.
The embassy also noted that Nigerian applicants can apply for the Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights, which supports Master’s programmes in Law, Human Rights and Governance.
Applications for the 2026 programme will open on June 29 and close on July 26, 2026.
Interested candidates are expected to submit their applications through the official Ireland Fellows Programme website beginning June 29.
