Reno Omokri Reveals Tinubu Nominated Him as Ambassador to Four Nations
Former presidential aide and political commentator, Reno Omokri, has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nominated him to serve as Nigeria's ambassador to four countries concurrently in Central and South America.
Omokri made the revelation in a statement shared via his official social media platforms, where he explained that the diplomatic process surrounding his appointment differs from that of other ambassadorial nominees due to the nature of his assignment.
According to him, his nomination requires the approval of four different host governments before he can officially assume office. "His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, nominated me to serve concurrently in four countries in Central and South America.
The processes involved in my appointment differ from those of other nominees because I must obtain agrément from four different nations," Omokri stated.
He noted that the diplomatic clearance process is more extensive because each of the countries must formally accept him as Nigeria's envoy before his posting can take effect.
Omokri's disclosure comes amid public discussions over the Federal Government's ambassadorial appointments, following the Senate's confirmation of career and non-career nominees submitted by President Tinubu.
While the Federal Government is yet to officially announce the specific countries Omokri will represent, diplomatic practice allows ambassadors to be concurrently accredited to multiple countries, particularly where Nigeria does not maintain resident embassies.
The Presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have not issued any official statement regarding the identities of the four countries mentioned by Omokri.
His revelation has since generated reactions across social media, with many Nigerians expressing interest in the unusual multi-country diplomatic assignment and awaiting further details from the Federal Government.
