Oyo Extends Curfew in 10 LGAs Near Old Oyo National Park

The Oyo State Government has approved a further 24-hour extension of the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas located around the Old Oyo National Park.

Governor Seyi Makinde authorised the extension, according to a statement released on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.

The government had earlier announced a restriction of movement in the affected councils from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. beginning on June 23, 2026.

The curfew was originally expected to last for 48 hours. However, following the new approval, it will now remain in effect until Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The affected local government areas are Oriire, with its administrative headquarters in Ikoyi-Ile; Orelope, headquartered in Igboho; Irepo, with headquarters in Kisi; Saki West, headquartered in Saki; and Saki East, headquartered in Ago-Amodu.

Others are Atisbo Local Government Area, with headquarters in Tede/Ago-Are; Itesiwaju Local Government Area, headquartered in Otu; Iseyin Local Government Area, headquartered in Iseyin; Olorunsogo Local Government Area, headquartered in Igbeti; and Atiba Local Government Area, with headquarters in Offa-Meta, Oyo.

The state government has not announced any additional adjustment to the curfew beyond the latest 24-hour extension.
