Edo Government Pushes Tourism to Create Jobs, Grow Hospitality

The Edo State Government has announced fresh plans to develop tourism as a way to create more jobs and strengthen the hospitality sector. Officials aim to promote major tourist attractions, improve roads and facilities, and encourage private investors to build hotels, restaurants, and entertainment centres.

They believe this will attract more visitors and reduce unemployment, especially among young people. Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration sees tourism as a key driver of economic growth for the state.

Local tourism operators and community leaders have welcomed the initiative. They hope it will create opportunities in tour guiding, hotel services, and local crafts. The government has promised training programmes to help workers deliver high-quality services. Stakeholders are confident that Edo State will become a leading tourism destination in Nigeria.

The plan includes improving infrastructure around key attractions to make them safer and more appealing to visitors. Authorities are calling on residents and investors to support the project through partnerships and responsible tourism practices. If successfully carried out, the tourism development is expected to bring in more revenue and improve living standards for many families in the state.

This move comes at a time when states are looking for new ways to grow their economies beyond oil. Edo officials are committed to making tourism a sustainable sector that provides long-term jobs and opportunities. The government has pledged to monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to achieve the best results for the people.

Residents are hopeful that the focus on tourism will bring positive changes and help reduce poverty in different parts of the state. With proper planning and support from all stakeholders, Edo could see increased economic activities and a brighter future for its youth and upcoming generations.
