JAMB Releases 2026 UTME Mop-Up Results, Begins Candidate Ranking
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise, bringing the examination phase to a close and setting the stage for admission processes nationwide.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, who said candidates who participated in the mop-up examination can now access their results through the board’s designated result-checking channels.
Benjamin stated that with the release of the results, JAMB will immediately begin the ranking of candidates, a key step in the admission process for tertiary institutions across the country.
He added that the printing of result slips, which candidates will require for admission screening and processing, is expected to commence before the end of the week.
The board thanked candidates, parents and other stakeholders for their patience and cooperation throughout the examination period.
The mop-up examination was held on June 13, 2026, for candidates who had been successfully verified for the main UTME but were unable to sit for the examination due to technical issues, biometric verification challenges or other disruptions experienced at their designated centres.
JAMB said the exercise was organised to ensure that affected candidates were given another opportunity to participate in the examination.
The main 2026 UTME was conducted in April, with more than two million candidates taking part in the nationwide exercise.
In the weeks following the examination, JAMB released the results, approved admission benchmark scores of 150 for universities and 100 for polytechnics, and opened its portal to allow candidates make changes to their preferred courses or institutions.
With the publication of the mop-up results, the board is expected to intensify preparations for the admission season as institutions begin processing eligible candidates for the 2026 academic session.
