The remains of Yaya Bauchi Tongo, a member of the House of Representatives, have been laid to rest in his hometown in Gombe State.

The burial took place on Saturday at his family compound in Tongo Village, Funakaye Local Government Area. Many people gathered to mourn the late lawmaker amid tears and prayers.

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State described the Tongo’s death as a painful loss to his constituents, the state, and the nation. He praised the deceased as a committed grassroots politician who worked hard for the development of his area and the welfare of his people.

The governor’s deputy, Manassah Jatau, represented him at the event and called Tongo a true representative and silent achiever.

Several top officials attended the funeral. They included Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and other federal lawmakers, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, and members of the Gombe State House of Assembly. Political leaders, traditional rulers, and many mourners from inside and outside the state were also present.

Tongo represented the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency. He was remembered for his selfless service, humanitarian work, empowerment programmes, and efforts to bring development to his people. His contributions are expected to remain a lasting legacy for future generations.
