Atiku Slams Tinubu, Wike Over Blocked Abuja PDP Event
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu and Nyesom Wike over a blocked PDP event in Abuja. The gathering was stopped by authorities, preventing party members from holding their planned meeting. Atiku expressed his anger, calling the move an attack on democracy.
According to reports, the PDP event was set to take place in the capital city. But security agents blocked access to the venue, turning away party leaders and supporters. Atiku accused President Tinubu of using state power to silence opposition voices. He also blamed Wike, who is the FCT Minister, for allowing the blockage.
Atiku did not hold back in his response. He said blocking political events is a sign of fear, not strength. He argued that the PDP has every right to hold meetings without interference. He also warned that such actions could push the country toward dictatorship.
This is not the first time the PDP has faced restrictions under the current administration. Party members have repeatedly complained that their events are disrupted. Atiku believes Wike, a former PDP governor now in Tinubu’s cabinet, is using his position to hurt his old party. Many PDP supporters agree.
The government has not yet officially responded to Atiku’s accusations. The blocked event has added fresh tension to Nigeria’s political space. With the next election cycle approaching, many fear such incidents could become more common. Atiku and the PDP are promising to fight for their right to assemble.
